Rabbit Bunny Rock Painting Tutorial Idea

Materials

  • A rock (half painted with blue for a sky, the other half with green for a field)
  • Paint pens (our favorites)
  • White acrylic paint (for the bunny bottom, optional)
  • Small paintbrush
  • Optional: ModPodge and Polyurethane sealant

Instructions for a Rock Painting Bunny for Easter

Step 1: If you haven't already, prime the rock by painting half a light blue for the sky and the other half green for a field.

Step 2: Once the base is dry, use a white paint pen to sketch a small circle for the head and a larger circle for the body. Use a skinny, tall triangle for the ears (you can bend one down). Make your rock painting bunny just your style.

Step 3: Use the white paint pen to go over the small circle for the head and quickly, before it dries, use the black and make small dots. Blend with the white pen or a small paintbrush. Your goal is to get it a light gray, so only a very small amount of black is needed.

Step 4: Because the white paint pen will pick up the green, use a small amount of white acrylic paint for the base of the bunny. While it's drying, you can move onto the next step and come back to this.

Step 5: Use the green paint pens to add grass accents along the horizon line and in the field. These will be where you'll add flowers and Easter eggs. Use different colored pens to add flowers made from dots – they're so small, you won't be able to see the detail. And this is so easy for kids.

Step 6: Repeat the white and black paint pen blending on the base of the bunny. Add in Easter eggs, a cloud, and some birds. Seal and hide (or display it).
